He was doing it so Finny wouldn't start pitying himself, but Brinker was wrong. I think what Briker did put Finny down and didn't help him at all. Also when Brinker did that Gene didn't say anything and he was Finny's best friend and that was also wrong. Then a week after that Finny died which was really sad because he was only in high school. I think Finny was the person who made everyone happy and now that he was gone things have changed.

When Phineas fell out of the tree and broke his leg I felt really sorry for him because he could never play sports again after that incident. Phineas played sports all the time too and was a very good athlete. Also he was trying to make it to the Olympics and then his dream was crushed by a fatal fall. He had a lot of trophies too for all the awards he won. Phineas even broke the swimming record for freestyle and he didn't even practice for it. He just did it one day.

The book a Separate Peace was by far the most boring book I have ever read. It has no action what so ever and is very bland. First of all, the book goes too much into detail when on a subject. For example, Gene thinks that Phineas is trying to make him fail by trying to get him not to study and Gene is thinking about it in his head trying to come to a conclusion and it just goes on and on. Second of all, there is no action. The only thing that is written in this book are conversations between Gene and another person and sometimes what Gene is thinking in his head. The book is taking place during WWII too. The author could have at least written something at Leper's point of view when he went to the war. All it did was talk about how in the paper there were stories of Leper.
